Man's Search for Meaning
Drama from film-maker Michel Hazanavicius starring Bérénice Bejo as Carole, an NGO worker stationed in Chechnya during the first year of the Second Chechen War in 1999. After witnessing the murder of his parents by Russian soldiers, Hadji (Abdul Khalim Mamutsiev) is alone and mute, scarred by the experience. He journeys to an orphanage run by American Helen (Annette Bening), a Red Cross worker.

At the same time, the boy's mother, the sole surviving member of his family, searches refugee centers for her son.
