Set in 1977 in Vevey, on Lake Geneva, the film follows immigrant Eddy (Benoît Poelvoorde), who, after being released from prison, goes to stay with his friend Osman (Roschdy Zem) and his young daughter Samira (Séli Gmach), agreeing to help look after the girl while her mother is in hospital.
As famed Spanish wine expert John Radford wrote in Decanter, the tiny enclave of Campo de Borja is "the source of some of the best value wines from Spain, if not the world". It's true. Where else could you find such a mellow, complex, oak aged red at this price? It's made by our old friend Pamela Geddes (who also makes our bestselling Monasterio de Santa Cruz) at the 500 year old Bodegas Ruberte.
A consistent top Gold medal winner, this gorgeous, velvety Rhône red also offers tremendous value. It's from the only co-operative cellar in Châteauneuf du Pape and is owned and run by local growers. The reason it's not labelled Châteauneuf (and is not twice the price!) is that the grapes are from vineyards next door to the famed appellation. What they do share is the same rock strewn soil that promotes superb richness and ripeness - and vines that are similarly aged and gnarled, which results in tiny quantities of concentrated fruit.
