Bd To Z Victor 1 The Z Cars Casebook Season 1
The BBC crime drama series Z Cars was created in 1961 as an alternative to the safe and cosy police series Dixon of Dock Green. While showing hard-hitting stories that reflected the reality of 1960s policing, real policemen followed it avidly while their superiors initially protested. With access to extensive BBC paperwork and series creator Troy Kennedy Martin's own files, this book details the creation and development of the programme through the groundbreaking first season.
With a very well-regarded and- highly-rated season of live BBC TV police drama behind them in early 1962, producer David Rose and story editor John Hopkins consolidated their success with a second run of the series in 1962-1963. All the original cast were initially back, although Jeremy Kemp and Dorothy White would depart the show mid-run and, tragically, Leonard Williams unexpectedly died three months into the season.
