Angelo Maci of the famed Cantine Due Palme winery is a great ambassador for Italian wine, especially wine from Puglia. His efforts have been recognised at home in the form of the prestigious Barocco Award, a coveted title given to those who promote Italian culture overseas - previous winners include Pavarotti, Sophia Loren and Pope Benedict XVI! Villa Quinziana is one of the most popular reds in Angelo's portfolio.

American financier Clarence Dillon visited Bordeaux in 1934 and fell in love with world famous Château Haut-Brion. The estate wasn't then in peak form, but that didn't put him off one iota. Certain it was the jewel of Bordeaux, he bought it and so started his family's long commitment to the region and fine wine. In 1983 they purchased La Mission Haut-Brion, next door, and the family have since extended their portfolio to other areas of Bordeaux.

Acclaimed importer and wine guru Terry Theise, long known for his top-notch portfolio and his illustrious writing, now offers this opinionated, idiosyncratic, and beautifully written testament to wine. What constitutes beauty in wine, and how do we appreciate it? What role does wine play in a soulful, sensual life? Can wines of place survive in a world of globalized styles and 100-point scoring systems? In his highly approachable style, Theise describes how wine can be a portal to aesthetic, emotional, even mystical experience-and he frankly asserts that these experiences are most likely to be inspired by wines from artisan producers.

The Rothschild name is "synonymous with prestige, history, respect and remarkable wines" (Robert Parker). Three branches of the family have impressive portfolios of estates not only in France, but across the globe. Yet it was only in 2001 that they decided to work together to craft a Champagne worthy of bearing the family name. Using their extensive range of contacts, they were able to create this complex assemblage - 60% Chardonnay, primarily from Grands Crus in the Côte des Blancs, and 40% Pinot Noir, chiefly from Verzany, Ay and Bouzy.
